Lenz comunica que a partir de unas determinadas versiones de decoders Silvermini+ y Standard+ , incluye una mejora en su firmware de los decoders que permitirá el uso de los mismos o bien como decoder para motor en su uso hasta ahora conocido , o como decoder de funciones, usando las salidas de motor como 2 salidas más de funciones, incluso dimmables.

«In the operating mode «locomotive decoder”, the motor outputs of the decoder respond to the information on the speed steps and the direction of travel.
In the operating mode «function decoder”, the motor outputs do not respond to the speed step, but to the function entered into CV49, depending on the direction of travel. The factory setting of this value is 0, i.e. the motor outputs respond to the function 0. This is typically the light function.
In the function decoder mode, the motor outputs change the polarity depending on the direction of travel, so that LEDs with series resistors switched in parallel can be connected to the orange and to the grey cable. In this operating mode, the motor output is dimmable; the corresponding dim value is entered into CV120. The factory setting of this value is 255, «not dimmed” Thus, in the function decoder mode, functions can be connected to the motor outputs of the decoder (grey and orange cable) which are to respond depending on the direction of travel. A typical example of such a function is a control car with direction-dependent front light (sample connection below).»
